The Brulé Sand Dunes, which border Jasper National Park, stretch across the horizon, their undulating peaks and valleys sculpted by the eternal hand of wind. A desolate, yet breathtaking landscape; not something you would associate with Alberta Canada; and yet, that’s exactly where the dunes are located!

For most of us, visiting Glaciers isn’t the easiest thing to do. They are highly regulated, and if you do get to visit one, they tend to be swarmed by tourists. Immediately after getting off the Whipsaw trail, Rey & I headed north west of Princeton to checkout one of Canada’s hidden Jems…a Glacier without tourists!! Located in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, this Glacier is nestled within rugged terrain and is known for its striking blue ice and dramatic surroundings.

After my trip to Moab Utah, I was looking for something a little bit different. I’ve never visited a fire tower yet; but after Nahtlatch was lost due to a wildfire last year, I wanted to start visiting them!

I tagged along with a group that was headed to Margaret Lake, which is located in the ever popular Ghost PLUZ. I had been here before, but in the summer. Never in the winter. Ghost is NOT known for its difficult trails; it’s really turned into a training ground for new wheelers; given that I’m looking for more challenging trails I have almost been avoiding this entire area. That being said, there are a ton of places to go in the Ghost region; and I knew the hills leading to Margaret Lake would be a challenge.

I was invited on a trip to the MacKenzie River Trail; this trail is often referred to as the “Red Mountain” trail. It is another one of Alberta’s more challenging trails. To call this trail narrow is an understatement; it cuts through a thick forrest in the Cardinal River basin; has several steep climbs, off-cambers and an deep washout section; it has all the makings of an epic adventure! The end of the trail is a summit of nearly 6,500 feet that has an amazing view of Redcap mountain.

Time for another Adventure! Two weeks ago, I failed to make it to the Summit of Marble Mountain. I don’t like to fail; so I jumped on the first chance I had to get back to Limestone. My wife opted out of this one so I knew I would be able to tackle the stairs once again. Would I finally make it?

With the final trip of the summer season, I knocked off two birds with one stone. First, we checked out the Alberta Ourdoor Adventure Expo. This was the first time I’d been to AOAE; the last time I was at anything of a sort was in 2016 when I shot an episode of my documentary series “Come Drive With Us” at an RC Rock-Crawling festival known as AXIALFEST. To be honest, I saw a lot of similarities. My daughter Rey, wasn’t super impressed; she was here for the trail.
Without any more delays, we headed over to Brule Lake which is located right between Hinton & Jasper Alberta. The trail was one of the most unique I’d ever been on. I really did feel like I was doing the trench run from STAR WARS. Or was it Beggars Canyon. Either way, it was super cool!
Read MoreDeflate your OFFROAD Tires FAST
There are two proceedures that most off-roaders HATE. Airing down & airing back up! I’ve got the airing back up covered with my ARB twin compressor, but airing down with my VIAR tire deflator takes me 25-30 minutes. When I hit the trailhead, I am always excited to get on the trail, so waiting for my tires to get the correct pressure…SUCKS!

Until now, I’ve really only hit up Northern Alberta trails; trails like TransAlta, Lost Knife and of course Ruby Falls. And all those trails are absolutely amazing; but Alberta is so vast so I had a plan for a few southern trips this summer. The record setting wildfire season changed many of my plans; but my trip to Crowsnest Pass was not affected!
