SmittyBilt Stainless Steel Door-Hinges – 1 YEAR LATER

Nearly a year ago I swapped out my OEM door hinges for a set of SmittyBilt Stainless Steel Hinges. Even though I do have a lot of Smittybilt products on my Jeep…I’m really not a fan of their stuff. It really is…wait for it…ShittyBuilt.

Long-Term Test: Smittybilt XRC Tailgate

I’ve had the Smittybilt XRC Tailgate on my Jeep for just over a year now; and I felt it was time for a long-term review. Now, I am aware that this product has been discontinued by Smittybilt however, they are still readily available on Amazon as well as eBay. They are also a fantastic product if you run 35-37 inch tires and don’t want to run a seperate tire carrier. There are also lots of JKs out there on the used market that just might have one of these tailgates installed.

So I feel this review isn’t entirely useless.

Checkout how my Tailgate faired after a busy season of wheeling!

Smittybilt JK Stainless Steel, Powder-Coated Door Hinges

Becuase I live in Canada, Edmonton to be exact, road salt is something we have to deal with in the Winter months. These conditions have taken their toll on my stock hinges and it’s time to replace them. With factory replacements costing over $1,000, I decided to go with quality Door Hinges made by Smittybilt. The black finish looks great and is perfect if you want to give your vehicle a more aggressive or even a “murdered out” appearance. You can use these on Wranglers and Wrangler Unlimiteds, but the kit comes with hinges for just two doors. Matching black bolts for attachings the hinges are also included to complete the look.

Smittybilt XRC JK Tailgate & Rear Bumper Install

After 9 years, my old Smittybilt rear bumper with integrated tire carrier has definitely seen better days. Not only has the Tire Carrier begun to sqeak and rattle, it has started to sag quite a bit! I’m also getting tired of being pulled over by the popo for an obscured license plate. I decided to install the Smittybilt XRC Tailgate along with a new GEN1 XRC Rear Bumper on my 2012 Rubicon.
