Ruby Falls (Part II) – An Overlanding Adventure

Last winter I joined a large group with a common goal: To get to Ruby Falls. We failed to achieve our goal. To say I was diaspointed was an understatement. To go all that way, and to battle as hard as we did only to barely make it to the half-way point was a bitter pill to swallow.

It’s time, to once again, try to make it to Ruby falls. Last year, I referred to Ruby Falls as “elusive”. Maybe it was an over-dramatization on my part; but I did NOT find this to be an easy trail. If it were an easy trail I am quite confident our group would have made it all the way last year. But it’s a new year; and a new group; and the conditions this year have been quite favorable; and members of the Off-Road community are once again spouting off on how easy it is to get to the falls this year.

That being said, the Rockies have been getting just a bit of snow in the weeks prior to our expedition. Would we face the same challenges as last year? Would we make it to the falls?

Special thanks to Kendalle for just a bit of extra footage!

Editors Note:

When I said “Day use area” I actually meant to say “Parking Area”. This is NOT a day-use only area; many people camp overnight there.
