Epic Off-Road Journey to Crevice Fire Lookout Tower: Murder Cabins, Getaway Cars & More!

After my trip to Moab Utah, I was looking for something a little bit different. I’ve never visited a fire tower yet; but after Nahtlatch was lost due to a wildfire last year, I wanted to start visiting them!

The Crevice Fire Tower was built during a period of intense focus on wildfire prevention and management. Fire towers became critical tools for early detection of wildfires, allowing for rapid response to prevent the spread of fires. While the exact date of the Crevice Fire Tower’s construction may vary depending on local historical records, many fire towers of its era were constructed in the 1930s. These towers were often constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) or other government agencies as part of broader conservation and infrastructure projects.

This off-road jeep adventure to the Crevice Fire Tower is more than just a drive; it’s an immersive experience that combines the thrill of exploration with the serene beauty of remote wilderness. Along the way, we checked out an amazing lake that stradles the US border, we stumbled upon a rusted out Chevy Delux, and found that this area is FULL of muder cabins.
