One of the reasons I bought a Rubicon, was for the front and rear dana 44 axles equipped with electronic lockers. That being said, the trails I have been going on are getting much more demanding, and I want a bit more peace of mind out on the trails.
It’s time for an axle swap! I’ve heard many Jeep folk say, if you’re doing one-tons, you MUST go 8-lug; and if you’re going 40s (or bigger) and have a roaring V-8 under the hood I agree. But given that my Jeep is a 2-door, and it will never see a tire larger than 37s…I didn’t see the point of spending the extra $10,000 to go full one-ton. Dynatrac has the perfect axle set for projects like this. I am pulling out the Dana 44s and replaceing them with a set of the “Serious Performance” ProRock Axles from Dynatrac.
This package allows you to run 37 inch tires with confidence, and won’t be quite so hard on your bank account like a full one-ton setup would. With this package, you get an assembled ProRock 44 Ultimate front axle and the revised ProRock 62 semi-float rear axle. My axles came with 4.88:1 ARB air lockers, 4030 front & rear axle shafts, HD Ball-Joints and 1350 sized yokes. While my e-lockers worked perfectly everytime, I have grown tired of waiting for them to lockup; and I’m really looking forward to the instant lock of the ARBs.
