If you want to see an easy & safe way of re-seating a tire that has popped off its bead that does NOT involve a flamable gas, blowing off of eyebrows or screaming like a 9 year old girl…

Last winter a group of perfect strangers joined me on a short over landing adventure to what ice climbers call “The good, The Bad, and The Ugly”. For us in the off-roading community it’s known simply as “Ghost Falls”. Last winter, we were fighting the elements the entire way; deep snow impeded our progress. Not everyone was up for he battle against mother nature. Only 5 of us made it all the way to the falls.
But now it’s time for a return to the frozen falls; how would the conditions be this winter? What adversity would this small group face?

I’ve owned a hi-lift jack for quite some time, but when I go wheeling, I always ended up just tossing it into the back of my Jeep. I did this because I just don’t like any of the external mounting options; mainly due to the fact that the jack tends to rust in the wrong places and also, it’s another thing I have to worry about getting stolen.
I found a great product from Hi-Lift that mounts the jack onto my rollbar, inside my Jeep; out of the elements; and safe from thievery.

I’ve had the Smittybilt XRC Tailgate on my Jeep for just over a year now; and I felt it was time for a long-term review. Now, I am aware that this product has been discontinued by Smittybilt however, they are still readily available on Amazon as well as eBay. They are also a fantastic product if you run 35-37 inch tires and don’t want to run a seperate tire carrier. There are also lots of JKs out there on the used market that just might have one of these tailgates installed.
So I feel this review isn’t entirely useless.
Checkout how my Tailgate faired after a busy season of wheeling!

I’ve gone on a few off-road trips lately and I noticed a lot of people riding their brakes more than they should on steep descents. This will cook your brakes; checkout my video to see how I do steep hill descents; and more importantly, what riding your brakes can lead to.

Got a stuck e-locker on your Rubicon? I did; my front locker decided to stay locked. I just finished replacing the seals a couple weeks prior, so I was a bit frustrated with myself given that I should have tested the locker out before putting everything back together!
Checkout my video if you want to know what causes this and how to fix it. This is the longer version which includes a bit of preventative maintenance.
Read MoreJeep Wrangler Mud Bogging & Idler Pulley Replacement
Like most Jeep owners that actually wheel, I like getting my Jeep nice and muddy. But mud is actually pretty hard on your Jeep. Specifically your Belt Tensioner, the Idler Pulleys and your Alternator. The pulley on the tensioner as well as the idler pulley can seize up. If this happens, the belt will melt. Because the belt on many models drives the power steering pump, the power brakes, alternator and most importantly the water pump will stop functioning.
I’ve found this out the hard way a couple times.

My 2012 Jeep Rubicon now has 171,000 KM on her and I felt it was time to replace the front axle seals. They weren’t leaking which I am told is a rarity in a Jeep Rubi’s age. The black-book estimate on this job is 4.9 hours, so while I was there I decided some more upgrades were in order.
